Self Portrait Series
Inspired by boredom and impending cabin fever, self portraits were my way of cataloging the strangeness I felt in the isolation of the pandemic. Although it was partially me wanting to practice provoking emotion through imagery, I mostly just needed an excuse to get dressed up.
I began the process by blasting my favorite music, setting my phone to video, and dancing until I was dizzy. Once the damage was done, I took screenshots of the memorable moments of my performance and began the editing process.
After a lot of time and research, over the summer I was able to invest in a Canon 80D with assorted lenses, tripod, and lighting disks, which helped to increase my skills and range.
This post is a chronological order of self portraits from the past year. Starting in my family home in Maine, March 2020, and ending by the sea in the Netherlands, December 2020.
